13/11/2015: today I am leaving my friends with a heavy heart, but the good news is that I am heading to some other very cool family: Adrien, Cécile and their daughters, who live in the “Oise” department, not too far from Paris. I am getting there by train, and as Rouen is on the way, I planned a visit of this pretty town. It is a city full of History and its city center is beautiful with its small streets and typical houses, its famous “Gros-Horloge” (an astronomical clock from the 14th century) and of course its Cathedral. It is also famous for being the birthplace of several great French writers (Corneille, Flaubert…) and the place where Joan of Arc was burnt, on the Old Market Square.
13/11/2015: aujourd’hui c’est avec le cœur lourd que je quitte mes amis, mais la bonne nouvelle c’est que c’est pour aller voir une autre famille très sympa: Adrien, Cécile et leurs filles, qui vivent dans l’Oise, pas très loin de Paris. Pour m’y rendre je prends le train, et comme Rouen est sur le chemin j’ai planifié une visite de cette jolie ville. Rouen est pleine d’Histoire et son centre-ville vaut le détour avec ses maisons typiques, son fameux « Gros-Horloge » (une horloge astronomique du 14ème siècle) et bien sûr sa cathédrale. C’est aussi le lieu de naissance de plusieurs grands écrivains français (Corneille, Flaubert…) et l’endroit où Jeanne d’Arc a été brûlée, place du Vieux Marché.
After this quick but interesting tour of the city, I jump in another train to Paris, from where I will grab my third and last train of the day to finally reach my destination.
Après cette visite courte mais intéressante, je saute dans un train pour Paris, d’où je prendrai mon troisième et dernier train de la journée pour enfin arriver à destination.
